mjp13 What's not to love about this album, The White Witch. Tremendous musicianship. Favorite track: Part 3 Survival.

Nickie Harte Kelly Here we have a reworking of an older Magenta piece of music, with full orchestra. The original has been turned into a trilogy, and it is just fantastic! Christina Booth’s voice is, of course, magnificent, and Robert Reed’s production and arrangement is masterful. Chris Fry provides superb acoustic guitar throughout. There is a bit of narration from Les Penning to tie the tale together and flute and oboe are especially featured, as well as delicate harp coming to the fore from time to time Favorite track: Part 3 Survival.

luckeydoug1 This is the most beautiful symphonic progressive music I have heard since I first heard Yes' Magnification nearly 20 years ago. Robert Reed's orchestrations are magnificent, and are very much on par with Trevor Rabin's film scores as well as Larry Groupe's score for Magnification. I am a french horn player, and his soaring horn parts are some of the best I have ever heard.

For some reason I could not select Part1: Sacrifice as my favorite track. It is indeed my favorite.

This is the CD of the new Magenta album 'The White Witch - A Symphonic Trilogy'.
It comes in digi-file format with an 8 page booklet.

Magenta's brand new, and long awaited, 9th studio album sees a major change in direction from past works. A fully orchestrated affair with no drums or bass anywhere to be found (sorry Dan and Jiffy :) ) with Christina, like a fine wine, getting better with age and really gelling gloriously with the music. Chris Fry provides a classical guitar clinic which certainly augments the overall lush sound and that brings us to Robert Reed. While composers like Hans Zimmer, John Williams and Howard Shore are at the forefront of modern day film music scores, Rob succeeds in producing, arranging and adapting Magenta's unique sound so that he stands alongside some of the greatest composers of the modern era.

'White Witch - A Symphonic Trilogy' will take you on a musical exploration the likes of which you've never experienced.

It is the year of our Lord 1645. England is in turmoil. We are four long years into the Civil War. Life is hard. In the brief moments of piece, people live out their lives the best they can. Then, adding to the daily misery, comes the Plague; swiftly crossing this land - no mercy, no discrimination, cutting down all in its path. Sara, living a quiet, unassuming existence. Fear of Hopkins and Stearne, now compounded by the Plague. Mother Nature guides her hand… With your gifts and your unbound love give me the strength To face the fear and the hate give me your strength Though the people come in secret my faith to seek out They need the power of the herbs to silence their doubts Taking them higher Healing their fears Fear it fades as the power of your gifts gathers them in To cure their ills and their minds no more a sin Strange new ways to live their lives opens their hearts To plant the seeds of a faith the wisdom it starts Making them stronger Make them live longer But still the show, they taunt and tease The secret friends and minds to ease, to ease Then the time of the Swift Death came into our lives People turn to Nature’s ways to help save their lives Pain takes hold and the light starts to fade easing their fears To get the secret of your ways your people draw near No more in shadows In fields where life grows One by one, together now One by one, together now, one goal Saved by the power, saved by the power of the earth Death has been vanquished we all wait for our own rebirth Fear Master Hopkins, fear of Master Hopkins will fade With all Nature’s gifts the dawning of a new age Fears they will vanish, fears they will vanish in the night At the side of Mother Earth, allies to help our fight, help our fight Now is the time to make a new start Now is the time to follow your heart Now is the time to all be a part of life's great plan Woman and man, one with this land Give praise and thanks now Your sacred vow Now is the time to give thanks for it all The green grass, the rivers, the trees so tall Now is the time to take care of it all, the sun and rain The pleasure, the pain, new life again Give praise and thanks now Your sacred vow Mother of all and the bringer of life Protect your children day and night Making us grow Making us whole, with your love Mother of all and the bringer of life Protect your children day and night Making us grow Making us whole, with your love Life - my life - I give - to you Life - my life - I’ll give - to you Life - my life - I’ll give - to you Take my hand I'll lead you, new ways Take the vow Protecting her ways Take my hand I'll lead you, new earth Take the vow Child of Mother Earth Take, take my hand I'll lead you, new ways Take, take the vow Child of Mother Earth

The Plague defeated, life for Sara, and a grateful village, returns to normal. Daily routines are resumed. Lives move on. But as the days drag on in a war-torn land, people’s old prejudices return. Fear of the unknown, fear of Her power. Emotions are stirred. The call goes out, fees are paid - Master Hopkins is on his way. Scared, shunned and scorned, who can Sara turn to? Looking out on a whole new world With my life to regain, no more fighting in vain Waking up to this village life People living the day, all forgiven they say See the looks as the passing by Once more suspicion starts, fear creeps into their hearts Slipping back to the old sad ways No more needing the herbs, hate to fear to serve Day arrives and they all are there They all try to do good but they‘re shouting for blood Playing out Mathew Hopkin’s will Know I’m damned by their hate For my soul it’s too late I’m resigned to my fate Confess and save your soul Confess and save your soul Confess the pain it will cease They say confess, your mind to release They say confess, believe in our God They say confess Confess the pain it will cease They say confess, your mind to release They say confess, believe in our God They say confess Take my soul to live again To do your will but who knows when? Show me your way Another time another place To live and serve the human race Show me your way Give me new life Give me new life Soul needs new life Must have new life As the flames get high I’m holding out my hand Give me brand new life Take me in your arms Into your arms my sister Luna Into your arms my sister Luna Into your arms my sister Luna Into your arms my sister Luna

Through plague and war, down through the mists of time, history repeating itself. Each event more devastating than the last. Sara, a gift to mankind, her power to heal, her gift of such immense insight - all shining a light in the world’s darkest hours. Always there with a helping hand for those in need. Always there with a shoulder to weep upon. Always there to show us the way… Through the years a sister’s guiding hand Down the path of wisdom born of truth Leads me to the broken and the lost It’s in my heart A cry for help, a hand held to the sky Staring at an image of the past Footsteps echoed following the path To give my heart Walking life’s pathways Making me stronger, I’m so much stronger now One by one, together now On and on, together now Looking at the faces of a child Lying there so helpless and alone Sadness in their eyes and in their souls It breaks my heart Reaching out to catch them when they fall Raised back up to see a golden sun Join as one to reach a common goal Love fills my heart Walking life’s pathways Making me stronger, I’m so much stronger now One by one, together now On and on, together now For everyone I meet For every life I touch With love and joy to ease their pain With love and joy to ease their pain The hopes and fears that bind us all Will fade away to hear the call And everyone will know Give them your life It’s in your soul In everyone In every one of us But time I’ll take you there To lift them up We make them whole We set them free again A chance for life To free your soul For all the world that cries in vain Just to be there You hear my voice Just speak my name Let go your mind And let me in Raise your hands Open your heart Take the vow Protecting all life Hold your hands A world filled with love And take this vow Child of Mother Earth You take this vow We’ll take this vow Mother Earth Mother Earth
